When Should a Buying Trip be Scheduled?

You may want to schedule more than one trip. The first time you visit you can tour the area to have a good understanding of the areas you are most interested in. For some people, having seen the neighborhoods in person gives them a better understanding when they look at homes on the Internet.

Timing of a buying trip can be tricky. If you visit too soon, sellers won’t want to wait for a closing date that makes sense for you. If you visit too late, you may not have time to close on a home before your moving date.

While each situation can be different, you should typically schedule a buying trip when you have a list of homes you want to visit, approximately 1.5 to 2 months before your move date. At that point, with all the research you’ve done and the ability to review homes on the Internet, you will easily make a decision after seeing the homes in person.

How Can All the Decisions be Made and Paperwork Completed Long Distance?

Once home negotiations start, all the paperwork can be handled via email and fax. We’ll stay in close contact with you to make sure you are comfortable with the sales price and terms of the contract.

Home inspections are an important part of a home purchase. If you can’t attend the inspection, we’ll be there to meet with the home inspector. Once a report is issued, you’ll have access to it right away and we can review the report together to identify and resolve any issues.

Who Must Attend a Closing?

Once you’re at the closing stage, you should be relaxing and getting excited about your move. You can attend the closing, but if you’re not able to attend, we can represent you.   The paperwork can be sent overnight to you for signatures and you can overnight the package back for the closing.
